5 DAYS ASTRONOMY AND GEOLOGY FIELD TRIPS FROM MARRAKECH TO FES
Overview :
Embark on a captivating 5-day journey from Marrakech to Fes, immersing yourself in the wonders of astronomy and geology.
We begin our adventure by traversing the High Atlas mountain, stopping for a delightful lunch in Ouarzazate, known as Moroccan Hollywood, before venturing into the Alnif desert. Here, under the starry sky, we spend our first night in a half-board hotel nestled in the flat black stony desert.
Our exploration continues as we visit fossil quarries to collect trilobites, followed by an evening near Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After a mesmerizing camel ride at sunset, we gather for a fireside talk on the sky, conservation, and more, spending the night under the stars in camp.
Venturing into the fascinating landscapes of south Erg Chebbi, we visit old mines and connect with local communities with rich histories. Evenings are filled with tea, Gnaoua music, and presentations on astronomy in northwest African cultures.
Exploring the history of Tafilalet Sijilmassa, we delve into its past as a caravan meeting point, then return to camp for sky observations using telescopes and binoculars.

EXCELLENT Based on 188 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Go42071466095Verified Atlas mountains and Moha's desert camp I went on a study trip with my university that was supported by Mohab and his team. They have excellent local knowledge and provided us with a safe transport service. We also stayed in a desert camp for a few nights. It is a unique place with no neighbours, located in the heart of the desert. The clean tents have an en suite bathroom. The food was excellent and varied. I would definitely come back.Posted on Tripadvisor Scenic63530760155Verified Moha is a great host Besides the absolute wonderful place that the Astro camp is, I was treated with great attention as I have quite strict dietary requirements, Moha’s team went above and beyond every day to make sure I was comfortable enough and had enough food that accommodated my needs. Much appreciated and very grateful of this kindness.Posted on Tripadvisor diana cVerified First time in Morocco Amazing experience, fabulous atmospherePosted on Tripadvisor Laurence RVerified Perfect for geology and more! The camp was spotless and well-maintained, with modern comforts that still preserved an authentic desert atmosphere. The pool was a wonderful bonus, especially after long days in the field.
